Can Starlink Run on 12V in a Caravan?

How to power Starlink in my caravan? Starlink doesn’t natively run on 12V, as it requires 240V AC power. However, you can use an inverter or aftermarket kits like Cowfish to adapt it for caravan battery systems, ensuring seamless use without an inverter.

Starlink Internet Speeds for Caravans

Starlink offers 50-150 Mbps download speeds for caravans, with peaks up to 200 Mbps, and low latency of 20-40 ms. The Mini Roam plan provides over 100 Mbps with 50GB data, while the Unlimited Roam plan ensures consistent performance for streaming and remote work.

 

How to Set Up Starlink in a Caravan?

It's dependent on the mounting option you decide. However, once we connect the router and power supply, then follow the app to align the dish. Your Starlink is in action.


How to Mount Starlink to my Caravan? (Option)

We have 3 mounting options. Depending on the flexibility you desire.

Option 1 - Side Mount

The best Starlink mount is a detachable side mount, offering versatility for caravan and motorhome use. Attached to a long pole on the caravan’s side for optimal satellite reception, or place it on the ground next to the caravan to avoid tree obstructions. This flexible setup ensures a clear sky view. Wire your caravan with a dedicated outlet for easy plug-in, simplifying power connections when needed.

Option 2 - Roof Mount

A roof mount offers a convenient Starlink installation option, eliminating the need to reposition the dish after each trip on the road. Securely attached with weatherproof bolts, it stays in place for consistent use. However, the downside is the fixed position, which may limit adjustments for optimal satellite vision, potentially risking performance if obstructed by trees or terrain.

Option 3 - No Mount

The no-mount option lets you place the dish away from the caravan, avoiding obstructions, or temporarily position it on the roof or draw bar. This reduces installation costs and offers freedom to optimize satellite vision by trailing the dish behind the van, plugged into the router and power. Ideal for flexibility, though it requires manual setup each time.
